Mission and Values

What do we believe? What guides everything we do? It can all be summed up in our mission and values.

Our mission

The mission of Calvary Lutheran Church is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We live out this mission through a commitment to Worship, Grow and Serve.

Our values

What's important to Calvary? Our programs aim to empower members to further God’s Kingdom through a lifestyle of worship, growth and service.

Worship

Calvary worship is a transformative experience that propels our community outward to live as 24/7 Christ-followers (Matthew 22:36-40).

We are prayerfully committed to singing, reading, creatively displaying and teaching God’s Word, so that all worshippers might have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ that compels us to:

     Love God above all things.

Respond to the Gospel in and beyond worship.

Rely on God’s Word in life decisions and relationships.

Pursue environments and relationships that foster growth and accountability.

Grow

Calvary’s growth ministries aim to provide individuals and families with opportunities to deepen their experience of the gospel in community (Ephesians 1:15-23).

Instead of urging our busy members to choose from an endless buffet of programs, we are prayerfully committed to creating environments that foster:

     Authenticity.

     Biblical encouragement and accountability.

     Uncompartmentalized devotion to Christ.

     The motivation to serve.

Serve

Calvary’s serve ministries affirm Christ’s call to bear fruit in such a way that others will see God and give praise to Him—God’s desired end for humankind (John 15:8, Matthew 5:16, 20:18-20; Ephesians 2:8-9; Revelation 5:9-10).

Since Christ’s followers are individually gifted for building up the church’s corporate life and witness, we are prayerfully committed to creating environments that:

Identify and employ the spiritual gifts of all believers.

Empower members to lead in ministry.

Affirm Christ-like service as a lifestyle, not just a program.

Reach unbelievers with the love of Christ.
