Calvary’s 2018 Lenten Services to Focus on the Seven Deadly Sins & Fruit of the Spirit
GOLDEN VALLEY, MINN. (Feb. 1, 2018) – Brokenness has long been part of the human experience, but the same is true for the healing found in community. To get to the heart of our brokenness and God’s gift of belonging, Calvary Lutheran Church, Golden Valley, Minn., will host weekly worship services around the theme “Exposed: From Brokenness to Belonging” during this Lenten season.
Calvary’s Lenten services will be held on Wednesdays, Feb. 14-March 21, and Thursday, March 29, at noon and 6:30 p.m. Calvary is located at 7520 Golden Valley Road.
Each service will be devoted to a deep exploration of the “seven deadly sins” and their antidote, the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23):
Feb. 14 - Pride | Peace
Feb. 21 - Gluttony | Joy & Self-control
Feb. 28 - Greed | Goodness
March 7 - Lust | Love
March 14 - Envy | Faithfulness
March 21 - Sloth | Patience
March 29 - Wrath | Kindness & Gentleness
Attendees are also invited to take part in “Kitchen Table Conversations” after each service to spend time together discussing the day’s topic, sharing life, reading Scripture and finding belonging.
Dinners will be served each week from 5 to 6 p.m. for $5 per person ($15 maximum per family); the March 29 dinner will be a free Community Meal from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Lunch will be served after the noon services on Feb. 14 and March 29 for $5 per person ($15 maximum per family).
