Community Invited to Children’s Vacation Bible School & Summer Music Camp

GOLDEN VALLEY, MINN. (May 4, 2017) – Signs of spring today remind us to plan now for the summer ahead! With that in mind, Calvary Lutheran Church, Golden Valley, Minn., invites the community to participate in its upcoming summer day camps for kids taking place at 7520 Golden Valley Road.

“Deep Sea Discovery,” a Vacation Bible School experience, will run for two sessions. The first session geared for ages 3½ years old through Kindergarten will occur June 5-9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. daily. The second session for ages 4½ years old through completed grade 5 will take place June 12-16 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. each day.

Through "Deep Sea Discovery," kids will know God is always with them, explore God's presence in their lives and serve God by serving others. Activities will include stories, music, games and projects that will help kids dive into the Bible and claim its promises for life.

The cost per child is $15; the maximum cost per family is $40. Visit calvary.org/summer to register.

Kids in completed grades 5-8 who are either attending or serving at Vacation Bible School are also invited to “VBS+,” which will entail afternoon activities at Lake Calhoun, community service organizations and Nickelodeon Universe. VBS+ will take place June 14-16 from 12:15 to 5 p.m. The cost of $50 total or $20 per day includes all activity fees and transportation (participants are asked bring their own sack lunches). Register online at calvary.org/summer by Wednesday, May 24.

Summer Music Camp will be held July 24-28 from 9 a.m. to noon for completed grades 2-6. Campers will rehearse “A Not So Terrible Parable” throughout the week in preparation for a free public performance on Friday, July 28, at noon. The cost per camper is $40 ($50 after July 1). Visit calvary.org/summer to register.

“A Not So Terrible Parable” is a fun, over-the-top “whodunit” mystery musical of the Parable of the Good Samaritan. Set in 1939 at the quaint Mountain Vista Inn, the cast will include a mystery theater host, a real estate investor, a famous detective, a maid, and of course, a butler.  Guests must use their wits as they encounter clues along the way.

The mission of Calvary Lutheran Church is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Established in 1946, Calvary offers five weekly worship services and a wide variety of activities for children, youth and adults. For more information, visit calvary.org or call 763-545-5659.
