BAPTISM

At Calvary, we believe that we’re saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone—not by anything we do, including baptism.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith.” — Ephesians 2:8

Baptism doesn’t save us, but it’s a beautiful and powerful sign of God’s grace (a “sacrament”). It’s a way God reminds us that we belong to Him—that our sins are forgiven and our lives are made new through Jesus.

Baptism is both God’s promise to us and our response of faith—a moment of celebration that marks the beginning of a lifelong journey with Him.

At Calvary, we joyfully baptize both infants, children, youth, and adults:

Baptism for Infants & Children

  • Infant & Child Baptism reminds us that God’s grace comes before we can respond. Just like children are part of a family before they understand it, God welcomes us before we can even choose Him. Parents and our church family promise to nurture each child in faith until they personally follow Jesus. We teach that people who were baptized as infants or children need to, in God’s timing, put their personal faith and trust in Jesus and receive the promises that are offered in baptism. In other words, the gifts offered in baptism must be opened.

Infant & Child Baptisms are offered on the third Sunday of each month. Contact Sue Mork with any questions.

Adult Baptism

  • Adult & Youth Immersion Baptism celebrates a person’s decision to surrender and trust Jesus and follow Him. It’s an outward expression of an inward faith—a public “yes” to what God has already done in the heart.

  • For those who were baptized as infants but want to celebrate and mark something new God is doing in their life, we offer a Reaffirmation of Baptism—a meaningful way to remember God’s faithfulness and renew your commitment to Him. We do not teach that individuals baptized as children must be baptized again as adults, this is an opportunity to publicly proclaim what God has done in your life!

Immersion Baptisms are offered periodically throughout the year on “Baptism Sundays”. Adults who desire to be Baptized contact Dan Thorson.
